LIBRARIES ARE SOME OF THE COOLEST PLACES IN ALL THE WORLD. IN FACT, THE BEST OF ALL THAT CIVILIZATION HAS TO OFFER IS STORED IN OUR LIBRAREIS! AND BOOKS - THEY'RE FREE TICKETS TO ANYWHERE IN THE UNIVERSE - AND OUR LIBRARIES ARE LIKE MAGICAL REALM TRANSPORTERS THAT CAN TAKE US ANYWHERE. AND LIBRARIES AREN'T THESE OLD, STOGGY PLACES. NO WAY! THOUGH THEY'RE FILLED WITH BOOKS (WHICH ARE REALLY COOL), THEY ALSO HAVE PILES AND PILES OF MOVIE DVD'S AND MUSIC CD'S. BUT THAT'S NOT JUST IT - NOW LIBRARIES ARE BECOMING EPIC GAMING CENTERS FOR THE MOST SERIOUS OF VIDEO GAMERS, TOO.
AS FOR ME - I LOVE VISITING MAP ROOMS, AND STACKS WHERE BOOKS LIVE IN HAND WITH THE HEART OF THE AUTHORS WHO PENNED THEIR GREAT WORK. OH - AND I MUST ADMIT, AS A SELF-CONFESSED LIBROPHILIAC, THAT I LOVE TRAVELING TO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES ... AND VISITING THE LOCAL LIBRARIES OF THE LAND.

For those of you who know me well, you obviously know I love libraries! And for those of you who may not know just how much I appreciate libraries, I'll let you in on a little secret: I am a self-confessed Librophiliac. Meaning the obvious: I really dig libraries! So much so, that over the course of the past ten years, I have planned many trips and vacations around libraries scattered across the globe that I wanted to visit.
Appreciating and supporting our libraries are very important. Much of my personal wonderment I describe in my essay 'The Magical Realm Of Libraries', which I think you might enjoy reading. In addition, I am pleased to share that over the past few years I have made over $50,000.00 in donations to libraries - a number I anticipate to build upon. And, as I begun to use my voice to support issues and organizations I believe in, I have begun to actively advocate for local and national support for libraries everywhere. In fact, recently, I participated in campaigning in Los Angeles for 'Measure L': a citywide vote that would properly fund Los Angeles' library system and essentially keep the library open. On March 8th, 2011 'Measure L' passed by 68%! Hopefully this type of public support will sweep across communities everywhere! Here are a few PSA videos that I created in support of 'Measure L' and our libraries.
